 Ramadan, the holy month is on October. The holy month is considered auspicious by the Muslims all over the world. Muslims observe fasting from dawn to dusk and special prayer sessions are also organized. The last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan are a time of special spiritual care as each person tries to come closer to God through devotions and good activities like zakkath. The night in which the holy Quran was revealed to the Prophet, is popularly known as the Night of Power (Lailat ul-Qadr), is generally taken to be the 27th night of the holy month. The Quran states that this night is superior to more than thousand months in its spiritual context. Therefore many Muslims spend the entire night praying and reciting holy Koran. Another specialty of this festival is that as a symbolic activity of brotherhood people exchanges their evening meals. Food intake is reduced often due to contraction of stomach muscles. Five times prayer a day is compulsory in almost all Muslim sects. |
